33000KVA Large Submerged Arc Furnace for Silicon Metal Smelting
This 33000KVA large submerged arc furnace targets industrial silicon metal production with a stable, high-load operation profile. Three 1250mm self-baking electrodes run at 200-260 V secondary voltage, and the water-cooled semi-closed hood keeps the charge surface sealed so that silicon metal losses in the off-gas stay low. A rotating charging system and an enlarged furnace shell diameter shorten the tapping cycle and let the furnace run at full load for long campaigns.
Why a Large Submerged Arc Furnace
- Large shell for long campaigns: 10,200mm shell diameter and 2,900mm bath depth spread the reaction zone, so a single campaign between major repairs runs longer.
- Low silicon loss: semi-closed water-cooled hood with controlled negative pressure holds off-gas oxygen below 2% and reduces silicon metal escaping as micro-silica dust.
- Stable 33MVA load: the furnace transformer with 9 voltage taps keeps the operating load flat, which suits grid dispatch and improves power factor.
- Uniform charging: rotating distributor and three-point feeding avoid charge segregation and keep the electrode holes open for gas escape.
- Easier maintenance: replaceable water-cooled wall panels, accessible bustle ring and quick-change pressure ring shorten planned downtime.
