25000KVA Large Submerged Arc Furnace for High Carbon Ferromanganese
This 25000KVA large submerged arc furnace is built for continuous high carbon ferromanganese production on an industrial scale. Three self-baking electrodes of 1250mm diameter sink into the charge bed so that heat is generated directly inside the burden, which gives deep bath penetration, stable arc length and a tapping temperature held between 1450 °C and 1550 °C. The closed furnace hood collects CO-rich off-gas for combustion or recovery instead of releasing it into the workshop, and the hydraulic tilting shell with a single tapping hole keeps slag and alloy separation clean on every tap.
Why a Large Submerged Arc Furnace
- High unit output: a single 25000KVA unit supports an annual output of 60,000-80,000 tons of high carbon ferromanganese, cutting specific power consumption to 3,800-4,200 kWh per ton.
- Stable deep-bath melting: 1250mm electrodes and a 20,000-25,000 A secondary current density keep the reaction zone submerged, so manganese volatilization loss stays below 3%.
- Closed hood with off-gas ducting: the sealed furnace cover, water-cooled skirt and flue gas duct allow waste heat recovery for preheating or power generation.
- Heavy-duty shell and tilting gear: thick steel shell with water-cooled wall panels, hydraulic tilting at a controlled angle for complete slag-free alloy tapping.
- PLC electrode regulation: automatic impedance control raises or lowers each electrode independently to hold the set power load within ±3%.
