2. Process description: Raw materials such as hot roasted sand and dry nickel cobalt sulfide are added to the sulfurization furnace and melted by electric heating. After a certain period of time, liquid nickel cobalt matte flows into the ladle through a chute from the tapping port. The ladle is moved to the LF refining position by the drag of the ladle car and begins refining. The slag material from the sulfide slag outlet flows directly into the downstream process of the impoverishment furnace after being buffered by the chute.
3. Working Principle
The sulfurization electric furnace mainly operates based on the principle of electrothermal chemical reactions. A powerful electric current is input into the furnace through electrodes. The Joule heat generated by the resistance of the furnace charge itself and the arc heat formed between the electrodes and the furnace charge rapidly raise the temperature inside the furnace to 1200 - 1400°C. In this high - temperature environment, nickel - containing raw materials (such as nickel oxides, nickel alloy scraps, etc.) added to the furnace react with sulfurizing agents (usually sulfur or sodium sulfide, etc.). The sulfurizing agents decompose at high temperatures to produce sulfur ions, which combine with nickel elements to form nickel sulfide. Meanwhile, other impurity elements in the raw materials (such as iron, copper, etc.) also undergo varying degrees of sulfurization reactions. By controlling the reaction temperature, time, and the amount of sulfurizing agents added, nickel elements are enriched in the form of nickel sulfide as much as possible. The sulfides formed by impurity elements have different physical and chemical properties from nickel sulfide, thus realizing the preliminary separation of nickel and impurities and providing high - quality raw materials for subsequent leaching and purification processes.
