12000KVA DC Single Electrode Titanium Slag Furnace
This 12000KVA DC titanium slag furnace uses one graphite electrode as cathode and the conductive hearth lining as anode, which is the standard route for making chloride grade slag with TiO2 above 85%. Direct current removes the arc extinction problem that AC furnaces meet on high titanium slag, stabilises the arc over a long heats campaign and allows deeper reduction so that iron oxide in the slag drops below 5%. The sealed furnace cover with charging ports keeps oxygen pickup low, which matters for chloride route feedstock.
Titanium Slag Process Advantages
- DC arc stability on high TiO2 slag: single electrode with bottom anode eliminates arc extinction and gives a steady 1,200-1,500 °C superheat zone.
- Chloride grade output: deeper reduction and longer holding time bring TiO2 to 85-90% with iron oxide under 5%, suitable for fluidised bed chlorination.
- Lower electrode consumption: one electrode instead of three, with current density optimised for graphite, cuts electrode cost per ton of slag by 30-40%.
- Sealed cover: charging ports, sealed electrode gland and off-gas duct keep air ingress low and stabilise fume composition for downstream treatment.
