Molten Slag Heat Preservation Furnace 1500kVA for Hazardous Waste Vitrification
Hazardous waste vitrification lines are usually built around a batch melting furnace, while the downstream quench or casting unit needs a continuous hot feed. This skid mounted preservation furnace sits between the two and holds 12 t of molten slag at 1350-1450 C, so the melting furnace can run on its own batch rhythm without freezing the discharge line.
Key Features
- Skid mounted design: the furnace is split into three transportable modules, so a retrofit project can be installed in 7-10 days inside an existing hazardous waste plant.
- Dual zone electric heating: silicon molybdenum rod elements in two independently controlled zones keep the bath uniform at +/- 12 C from charging end to tapping end.
- Sealed and negative pressure: the sealed shell and hood connection keep the furnace under negative pressure, preventing leakage of heavy metal bearing fume into the workshop.
- Chrome corundum lining: the working lining resists attack from high sodium and fluoride containing hazardous waste slag, with a 150 mm insulation layer behind it.
- Low heat loss: holding power consumption is only 60-90 kWh per hour once the bath is at temperature.
Process Flow
- Molten slag from the melting furnace is poured into the preservation furnace through a covered chute.
- Electric heating elements maintain the set temperature in both zones.
- The bath is homogenised and any residual metal settles for periodic draining.
- Slag is discharged at a controlled 8-10 t/h to the water quench or casting machine.
- Fume is extracted under negative pressure to the plant bag filter.
