Water-Cooled Cable Product Introduction
1. Product Overview
Water-cooled cable is the core conductive connecting component for submerged arc furnaces, ferroalloy furnaces, industrial silicon furnaces, calcium carbide furnaces, refining furnaces and various high-current metallurgical electric furnaces. It undertakes the transmission of large current between short net, electrode holder and transformer secondary side.
Conventional bare copper cables generate severe heat under high current, leading to temperature rise, large power loss, easy aging and frequent replacement. Our water-cooled cable adopts internal circulating water cooling structure, which rapidly takes away joule heat generated during current transmission. It features low temperature rise, low resistance loss, stable conductive performance and long service life. It is widely matched with 6300kVA–63000kVA full range of metallurgical electric furnaces, and is an essential part of furnace short network energy-saving transformation.
2. Product Classification & Types
2.1 Rubber Hose Water-Cooled Cable (Conventional Standard Type)
- Structure: Multi-strand soft copper wire conductor, inner insulating rubber water channel, outer wear-resistant rubber protective sleeve, stainless steel flanges at both ends
- Matching furnace: Medium & small submerged arc furnaces 6300–25000kVA
- Advantages: Good flexibility, easy bending and layout, low comprehensive cost, mature process, convenient maintenance and replacement
- Application: Furnace short net connection between electrode clamps and busbar
2.2 Stainless Steel Corrugated Pipe Water-Cooled Cable (Heavy-Duty High-Current Type)
- Structure: High-conductivity oxygen-free copper braided conductor, stainless steel corrugated cooling water pipe, high-temperature resistant insulation layer, anti-spattering metal shield
- Matching furnace: Large closed furnaces 33000–63000kVA and above
- Advantages: High temperature resistance, anti-molten splash, strong pressure resistance, long service life, suitable for harsh high-temperature furnace front environment, ultra-low temperature rise under super large current
- Application: High-capacity industrial silicon, ferroalloy, yellow phosphorus closed electric furnace short network
2.3 Ultra-Soft Flexible Water-Cooled Cable (Electrode Moving Special Model)
- Structure: Super-fine oxygen-free copper wire dense braiding, multi-channel circulating cooling water path, multi-layer anti-aging rubber sheath
- Advantages: Ultra-high flexibility, large bending stroke, no breakage after frequent lifting/lowering of electrodes, stable cooling effect
- Application: Direct connection between electrode holder and short net busbar where electrodes move frequently
3. Core Structure & Working Principle
The whole cable is composed of four core parts: conductive braided copper body, cooling water circulation channel, insulating protective layer and metal connection terminal.
- Conductive Braided Copper Conductor
Made of high-purity oxygen-free copper wire with high conductivity, dense braided structure ensures excellent flexibility and large current carrying capacity, effectively reducing contact resistance.
- Circulating Cooling Water Channel
Cooling water flows through the inner pipeline in closed circulation, continuously absorbing heat generated by copper conductor during power transmission, keeping the cable operating at low temperature.
- Multi-Layer Insulation & Protective Jacket
High temperature resistant, aging resistant and insulating rubber / stainless steel corrugated outer layer, isolating high temperature radiation, molten iron splash and mechanical abrasion, avoiding short circuit and leakage risks.
- Integrated Welded Terminal Flange
Both ends adopt integral copper flange structure, seamless welding with copper braid, uniform current distribution, small contact resistance, equipped with water inlet and outlet interfaces for quick connection of circulating water pipeline.
